In a similar vain there is a link between schemes of this nature and ViewTraffic.info. With our service there is no reason why users can’t detect possible issues and create ‘localised’ feeds for other people in a similar way to an already created post. For example if someone spots an incident on one of our cameras they could update a feed relevant to the location – or if there aren’t any cameras but someone has just experienced a bad traffic problem, they can log it at ViewTraffic.info and all users subscribed to that particular feed will find out instantaneously. There’s been a lot of press made in recent months about CCTV footage and how it could assist in helping resolve crimes. What’s being proposed is that any person sat at home can zoom into a particular location and detect the occurrence of any possible crime activity. Obviously there are many counter-arguments to the validity of such a service, namely the creation of a spy culture but then again there are plenty of benefits.
